Original sign
Old vinyl stripped
After primer
Top coat
I was asked to create a new sign for L & L Corvette Parts and Hydrographics, but to use the existing sign, mounted on the front of their building. It is aluminum facing and frame, so it is light-weight and for that I am thankful. I began by stripping off the old vinyl and adhesive, sanding and priming the panel. It was in decent shape, but had a lot of holes in it from previous 3D lettering mounted on it. I plugged most of them with pop rivets and finalized by applying a top coat.
After a new design was approved and fresh vinyl applied, the last shot is the finished product.

Back Window Cowboys

My brother's girlfriend is an avid "outdoorsy" person, who owns a couple of horses which they ride quite often, was downtown in her truck not long ago and heard the couple behind her blowing their horn. She pulled over and they asked about her back window decal (above). They liked it and wanted one, themselves. I gave her a bunch of my cards, so she gave them one.
Rolling advertisement is the best.

Webster's Karate

Pat Underwood, who is a friend of my son, Crisco, is a black belt (several times over) instructor and is head instructor at Webster's Karate, at the Moulton, Alabama location (Wal-Mart Supercenter). They teach both Jiu-jitsu and Tang Soo Do disciplines there. Pat asked me to supply him with some vinyl lettering for his suite and also the marquee out front. I obliged with the above signage. Their logo is four color.

Another '78

This is one I let get away. I never should have sold it 'cause it's the best one I ever owned. I later added a padded rollbar cover to it. It also had the hard steel doors; it had already started to get hot when this pic was taken and I later took the top off. These were 16" wheels instead of the standard 15". It had all stainless accessories with polished alloy wheels; stainless front bumper. After I had it painted I had the paint shop give me about a quart of the paint with reducer added where I could airbrush with it. It's hard to see in the photo, but the white vinyl was sprayed on the bottom to give it a gradient look before applying to the black outline. Then it was clear-coated to seal it.

Past Vinyl Projects
I have always enjoyed marking up old Jeeps. This is the Jeep I have now - minus the lift and big tires. That's my son, Crisco, at 18. He removed the graphics a couple years later. The red one was the '78 that I fixed up and had painted gold pearl. It was the best one out of four CJ7s I've owned. That's it above, under "Another '78", with the hard top on and doors off.

The Hatton High School Bandboosters commissioned me to "flavor" their equipment trailer with their logo and name. I enjoyed doing this. The little neighborhood girls showed their appreciation by "TP"ing my front yard; they go to another school! Team spirit and rivalry run deep in the Deep South. I think this was done back in '03.
