Coca-Cola Rework

12/10/17

Repeat customer Billy B. told me a while back that he had an old Coca-Cola sign and wanted me to see if I could do anything with it. It measured almost 12" x24" and was, as you can see, made from a galvanized sheet of metal. For some odd reason, only the white lettering was peeling off, but was painted over the red background.
Galvanized sheet metal is a lot like aluminum as far as trying to paint directly on it. Without proper preparation, in time, the paint will peel off.
The first thing I did was brush on a coating of MEK - some wickedly strong solvent and scraped it off with a putty knife. What little paint was left was sanded off by hand, then a coating of white vinegar was applied and allowed to set. This is a mild acid and actually etches the metal, to give it a "tooth" for subsequent coatings of paint to adhere to.
This was rinsed off and then washed with soap and water and allowed to dry.
Two coats of primer were applied and then two coats of top coat. To give it an old look, I decided to sand the sheen off, then buffed it all down and applied the vinyl. We think it turned out pretty good and wouldn't mind having one like it.

Liberty Methodist Part 3

11/28/17
This old sign is now on it's third re-birth, as it stands. I don't know who did the original, but it was hand-painted on a sheet of metal and stood just off the four lane Gordon Terry Parkway. As it states, the church is 1/3 mile down county road 229. I was asked to redo it twenty years or so ago, and at the time, didn't think to take a picture. That was before digital cameras and cell phones had really grabbed on, and all I had was a film camera. And film cost money. I was asked again to replace the panels. The last two are both sides and the frame has since been moved to the south side of the church. They have an electric sign out on the parkway.

Complimentary Tags

11/07/17

With the new signs I decided to make a new tag for my truck, to keep things current.
It also dawned on me to offer an incentive for the patronage we have received this year.
For any graphic job we are chosen to do; be it vehicle graphics, signs, etc., and the total is $100.00 or more, we will design and produce a tag as a compliment for you. Just ask us about it when you place your order. So get 'em rolling in!

I have neglected putting these shots up, but we installed these panels back on July 7; here it is October. These are made from MaxMetal and should hold up much longer.

Southern Man

7/30/17

Bart N. is a "Southern Man" in that he likes big trucks and the ol' South. He likes the Confederate Navy Jack which is the generally recognized symbol of the South. He also wanted stars in "super duty", so those were added.

Tumblin' Down

7/12/17
John S. was just passing by over the past weekend, while Pam and I were preparing the new signs out front. He was headed to Tennessee and saw us out there, so he decided to check out what we did. He had a couple of tumblers as gifts - one for his son and one for a lady friend. He knew what his son was interested in, but Pam quizzed him on the lady's interests. These are the results.

Alpha Automotive

06/14/17

An automotive shop has opened up down the road and they texted me wanting to replace the old sign. It is two brothers and their dad and one of the brothers stated he liked my logo with the circle "Z", so I designed them one with that in mind. I hope they are pleased.

As promised, here are some pics of the finished trailer. DRay said he has already out-grown this trailer and plans for more.

Epic Entertainment

The fellow from  the previous post is a DJ. He has a black box trailer that he carries his equipment around in and he wanted us to extend his "equalizer" theme from his truck to the trailer. Whereas his truck is white and the trailer is black, there would need be a color change. He decided to go with the silver metallic and vivid green. I really like how this pops on the black.
He will be applying the decals himself to save some money, so I hope he takes some pics when he's finished to send me. If so, I will post them here, later.

Epic Truck

A fellow who lived close by not long ago and is a repeat customer, has a business that he needed some advertising done. He had the design already, so that saved some time and he wound up going with three colors - white, silver metallic and charcoal metallic. Combination turned out pretty good.

Another Sign For Sandie

Sandie T., owner of Lil' Hill Farm, specializing in Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, asked for a sign on the road, in front of their home. It needed to be two-sided and she decided to go with a 18" x 24" panel to hang on a metal bracket. Her husband, Bruce, has already installed it on a cedar tree next to their drive entrance. Thanks, folks!
